About BeautyGuard
What BeautyGuard is
BeautyGuard brings official, public regulatory data on cosmetics safety in the European Union together in one place. It issues no medical opinions and no verdicts on how “harmful” a product is, and it does not replace a toxicologist or a safety assessor.
What it does instead is the part that can be established rigorously from data: it joins the official regulatory sources and presents them in a readable form, with a link to the source beside every piece of information.
Where the data comes from
Alerts come from the EU Safety Gate system, ingredient statuses from the CosIng database and the annexes of Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009, and product data from Open Beauty Facts. How we join and assess them — including the known limitations of the method — is described in our public methodology.
