About BeautyGuard
Who is behind this
My name is Maciej Osytek. I am a software engineer and I build BeautyGuard single-handedly — from the data pipeline to this page. I am not a toxicologist or a safety assessor and I do not pretend to be one: BeautyGuard issues no medical opinions and no "harmfulness" scores.
Instead I do what an engineer can do well: I bring official, public regulatory sources into one place and present them legibly — with a link to the source next to every fact.
Where the data comes from
Alerts come from the EU Safety Gate system, ingredient statuses from the CosIng database and the annexes of Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009, and product data from Open Beauty Facts. How we join and assess them — including the known limitations of the method — is described in our public methodology.
