Where do these alerts come from?
From the EU Safety Gate system (formerly RAPEX) — the official register of dangerous non-food products, fed by national market surveillance authorities across the EU.
A cosmetic was recalled in another EU country. Does it concern me?
Usually yes — the EU market is a single market, so a product notified in, say, Italy may have been sold in your country too. Check the batch number on the packaging against the alert.
What should I do if I own a recalled product?
Stop using it and check the alert details — they usually name the batch and the reason. You can return the product where you bought it; sellers may not refuse a dangerous product.
Why do I see a specific ingredient next to an alert?
We match the notification text against the regulated-ingredients database (CosIng, the annexes of Regulation 1223/2009). When the authority named a substance, we link its page with the legal status and limits.
