Amazon EU: Cosmetics Compliance Requirements for Sellers

April 4, 2026

Amazon has become the strictest marketplace for cosmetics compliance in the EU. Since GPSR took effect, sellers report listings suspended without warning, requests for compliance documentation within 48 hours, and entire accounts at risk.

What Amazon Now Requires

1. Responsible Person in the EU

Every cosmetic product listed on Amazon EU must show the Responsible Person's name and EU address. Amazon validates this information and can suspend listings missing it.

2. GPSR compliance documentation

Amazon may request at any time:

  • Product safety data sheet
  • Responsible Person declaration
  • CPNP notification proof
  • Safety assessment reference
  • EU address for the RP

You typically have 48-72 hours to respond. If you can't — listing suspended.

3. Product safety monitoring

Amazon uses automated systems to flag products matching EU safety alerts. If your product is flagged, you need to prove it's not the same product, or remove it immediately.

Common Reasons for Amazon Suspension

ReasonResolution Time
Missing RP information24-48h (if you have docs ready)
Safety alert match1-4 weeks (requires investigation)
Customer safety complaint1-2 weeks (requires safety data)
Incomplete labeling1-2 weeks (requires product update)

How to Prepare

  1. Ensure RP details are in every listing
  2. Keep CPNP notifications accessible
  3. Monitor your products against EU safety alertsBeautyGuard automates this
  4. Maintain compliance reports — downloadable CSV/JSON from BeautyGuard
  5. Respond to Amazon requests within 24 hours — have templates ready

Proactive Monitoring Saves Your Account

If you find a safety alert match before Amazon does, you can proactively remove the product and notify Amazon — showing good faith. This is far better than having Amazon suspend you.
